Session Two Reading Assignments

Fear Fighters book:

Chapter 3, Your Refuge from Fear

Where do you go when you need to feel safe? What do you do to get relief when you are facing threatening situations? Is coping with fear taking you into the world of escapism or addiction? There is a safe place you can always run to, a strong tower that Moses in Psalm 91 refers to as “the shadow of the Almighty.” When you run into God’s shadow, He protects you from all harm with His great power. Christ can restore back to you everything you lost as a result of sin’s power in your life. When you come into His presence and call on His name, He will go to all extremes to protect you from all evil. In Christ’s shadow is healing and health, blessing and favor—and protection from all evil. God never promised you a life without problems. You cannot avoid the attacks of the enemy and the attacks will usually come from one of three categories:

  1. The expected
  2. The unexpected
  3. The unfounded

You can talk “devil talk” or you can talk “God talk.” “Devil talk” brings the devil to the scene and “God talk” brings God on the scene. There will always be things trying to attack you to pull you out of God’s presence, out from His shadow. But confessing the truth of the Word of God will keep you from giving into the enemy’s lies. Speak victory and not defeat. Worship like never before.
