Session Seven Reading Assignments

Fear Fighters book

Chapter 8, Overcoming the Fear of People

Relationships have been thwarted because of a fear of people. Jesus wants to set you free to experience meaningful relationships. Fear of rejection is the number one reason people isolate themselves, but receiving the love of Jesus is the first step to overcoming that fear of rejection.

Conversely, there are also people who will do anything to have a relationship because of their fear of being alone. This is equally unhealthy. First, you need to understand this: The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus intentionally seeks out the lonely and it says in Psalms that ‘the Lord sets the lonely in families.’  You should also know that you are never alone in adversity. You have a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
