Follow the Star

Our expectations control our conduct. The wise men in Matthew 2 followed the bright star in expectation of finding something glorious, but they ended up in a stable. They were expecting a king in a palace but found a baby in a stable. What do you do when you start with so much hope and end up at a stable?

Key Scriptures:

Matthew 2:1-12; Philippians 4:4

Key Points:

  1. Look for God in the stable. Wise men don’t panic when handed a difficult situation; they hold steady. God is in your stable. God is with you in the stable just as He was with you with the stars. In every stable, there is good, and there is GodMature Christians can find God in the bad and the good. You don’t have to have a perfect situation to have joy. You can have joy because you have Jesus.
  2. Offer your very best to God in your worst circumstances. When the wise men got to the stable, they saw blood, manure, animals, and a baby wrapped in dirty clothes. Jesus was born in a manger, so He’s not afraid of the dirt you bring him in your life. Your natural inclination in the stables of life is to hold back and withdrawal. But wise men don’t withhold; they go the extra mile and give their very best.

Final Thoughts:

There will always be a stable to get to the star God has for you. Don’t panic when the stable comes. Instead, give God your very best. He will work it all out for good if you don’t throw in the towel and quit.
