How To Be Unshakable

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” Hebrews 12:28

We are living in times of uncertainty with wars going on all over the world. You may not know what is coming in the future but one thing you can know for sure is that you are part of a kingdom that cannot be shaken. As long as the foundation of your life is found in the sacrifice of Jesus, no weapon formed against you and your family will prosper!

The foundation that you build your life on matters. Jesus gave two foundations in Matthew 7 that people build their lives on. He talked about the wise man and the foolish man. Jesus said, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Notice that both men went through storms but the difference was the foundation they had built their homes on. The house built on the sand fell but the house built on the rock stood through an extreme storm.

When builders construct a storm shelter, they are told not to use nail guns. Storm shelters need to withstand powerful winds, rain, and even flying debris so builders use old fashioned hammers and nails. You can’t live your life with just a little bit of God here and there and expect that to be a secure enough structure to sustain you when life’s storms hit. You need to go back to the foundations to outlast the trials of life. Every time you open the Bible you are using the old fashioned “hammer and nail.” Each time you bring your family to church you are building on a firm foundation. All the days that you faithfully pray, you are securing the structure of your family for generations. Your marriage and your kids may go through some hardships, but when you are building your life the right way nothing will be able to knock your house down.

When Noah built the ark everyone was making fun of him but he just kept hammering away each day. Noah put his family inside of the structure that God had told him to build and when the storm came, his family stayed safe. The solid principles of the Bible may not be the “hip” or “modern” thing to do and you may get laughed at for how you live and for what you choose not to partake in, but in the end you will be found wise and your family will be kept secure on the rock of Christ.
