Stand next to Jesus

And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”
-Mark 5:7

In Mark 5, we meet a man who is held fast in the python’s grasp. The Bible says he was possessed by demons, lived among the tombs, and terrorized people. But when he met Jesus, the demons were suddenly powerless.

Jesus asked, “What is your name?” The demons responded, “My name is Legion, for we are many” (Mark 5:9). Legion is a military word that was used to describe a Roman unit of soldiers that would contain six thousand to ten thousand soldiers.

But the very next thing they say is, “We know you’re going to throw us out. Please give us a place to go.”

When demons come into the presence of Jesus, they are at His mercy. Get as close as you can to the Lord through praise and prayer. When you do; and when come into the presence of Jesus, the enemy doesn’t have a chance against you!

THINK ABOUT IT–
What have you done today to grow closer to Jesus Christ?

PRAYER FOR TODAY—
Heavenly Father,
I want to walk closely with Jesus throughout my life. Show me how to grow closer to my Lord and Savior. Amen.
