Miracles In The Storm

“If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you!’”

One day, the disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee when, all of a sudden, a violent storm came. The disciples were toiling and laboring with the oars but couldn’t get anywhere. The waves were filling the boat, and they feared they were about to drown and die. Then Jesus came walking on the very thing they were worrying about. He was walking on the water.

Jesus is above all your negative circumstances. He is walking on what you are struggling with. What you’re worried about is going to bring glory to Him because it is already under His feet. He is in control.

But interestingly, the passage says Jesus came walking on the water, “and he would have passed them by,” but then someone cried out for help. Jesus stopped because somebody cried out for Him, and when he climbed into the boat, the winds immediately ceased. The disciples had been toiling and worrying, but the minute Jesus was invited into the situation, the threat was neutralized. We serve a God who can heal your disease, deliver you from addiction, restore your marriage, pay your mortgage, or instantly change any situation you are in.

Problems don’t move God. Faith moves God. People crying out in faith motivates Him to act. Jesus said to the blind man, “What do you want me to do for you?” It was obvious that the man was blind. Jesus wanted to see his faith. He not only healed the man of blindness but later led him to salvation. No storm or trial you are in is too much for God, but don’t assume that He is going to intervene if you don’t demonstrate your faith by asking for His help.

A centurion came up to Jesus asking for his help because his servant was at his home, paralyzed and in terrible pain. Jesus offered to go there and heal him, but the centurion said, “Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.” And when Jesus heard this, he was “amazed” at his faith and said, “Go back home. Because you believed it has happened.” His servant was healed that very hour. Few things amazed Jesus. This man’s faith was one of them.

God wants to climb into the boat of your hardships. As he told the disciples, He is now telling you, “Don’t be afraid. Take courage! I am here!”
