8 Days That Changed The World (Part 2)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

The fourth day that changed the world was silent Wednesday. It’s interesting that out of the eight last days of Jesus’s life there’s one day that historians say we don’t know what He did. It appears He did nothing. There were people with needs all over Jerusalem and Jesus did nothing. Sooner or later in life you’re going to encounter not just the Jesus of miracles, but sometimes you will encounter silent Wednesday. It’s when you desperately need to hear from God but He doesn’t seem to say anything about your situation. God wants you to trust Him even if you don’t see things happening or feel His presence.

You may be going through silent Wednesday. You can’t hear God’s voice or see Him doing anything. But it’s in those silent Wednesdays that He’s teaching you to trust Him and have faith. Your faith grows from the time you thought God should have done the miracle and the point when He actually intervenes.

There were great needs and Jesus did nothing. Sooner or later there will be the unexplained absences of God in your life. Why didn’t He stop my child from having that accident or why doesn’t He do what I think He ought to do? Why won’t He heal this situation? Why? The teacher is always silent during the test.

When you go through the silent Wednesdays and can’t hear God, read God. If you’ll read God’s word, you’ll start hearing God’s voice. His Word will sustain you through the silent Wednesdays. God’s word will ground you in the truth that God is good all the time and He will never leave you.
