Outreach Update: Haiti
March 31, 2016
“I couldn’t wait to share with you this latest update from Bobby and Sherry, our missionaries in Haiti. I want to express my deepest appreciation for all that you’ve helped accomplish—the Miracle Market is a huge success! But after seeing the pictures below of these children searching for food alongside the animals, and hearing about the 300 families literally living in the dump, I was reminded of how extreme the need is throughout Haiti.” —Jentezen
Bobby & Sherry Burnette report that the Miracle Market is a huge success:
The Miracle Market has exceeded our dreams and it’s still expanding! We cannot put into words what the market has done for the whole area. Jobs, jobs, jobs! And giving Haitians sustainability—Haitians helping themselves!
The bottom line, what a huge Christian impact! What a large footprint for Christ! Praise the Lord!
Two very large wholesale areas have opened. This is a huge advantage for the people here, bringing:
- Better products for vendors to sell
- More options for consumers to buy
- Better prices
- More profit
- Attracting more people to the market
- More opportunities for the people
We have an average of 138 vendors each day. New vendors are constantly moving in because it is so clean and has good security.
New vendors include:
- The Association of Transportation – They will be bringing big trucks and busses into the market!
- Napcom – Another phone company.
- Epidor will open in June. This is a very large restaurant under construction right now!
- Sogebank opened the first ATM machine on this side of Haiti.
- The slaughterhouse is a big success!
The economy in our area is growing, thanks to you!
All of our new vendors and customers are hearing the Word of God. We’re reaching more souls for Jesus and making an eternal impact!
- Our last event drew 1500 people!
- We continue our DAILY prayer & worship at noon.
- And Christian radio plays ALL the time throughout the market.
We can’t wait to bring in even more Christian movies and singers to Miracle Market.
We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sending a 40-foot container of food each month, which is now 272,000 meals at a time!
We’ve started feeding an additional 300 families and children in the garbage dump of Cite Soleil, Haiti. Here, the children rise up each morning and look for food, alongside the pigs, goats and rats . . . It is a living hell. The only hope they have is your food that we are now sending.
We have never seen such a food crisis since living here for 23 years. The Haitian dollar has been devalued, so the price of staple things, like beans and rice, are almost unreachable for the poorest of the poor.
We want to continue this each month. That is why your contribution is so important.
May Psalms 41:1-3 continue to bless you:
Blessed is he who considers the poor;
The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive,
And he will be blessed on the earth;
You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness;
You will sustain him on his sickbed.
Thank you again for all that you do each and every month in Haiti. We want to continue this critical ministry to the children and families in need.
