What is it that you need? Different seasons of our lives bring different challenges and these can sometimes be overwhelming.
In John 6, there is a great need recorded. Five thousand men gathered on top of a mountain to listen to the teachings of Jesus, They were so enamored they forgot to eat. Naturally, their stomachs began to grumble. The disciples pulled together their best efforts to find a solution. All-the-while, they were in the presence of the Solution . . . Jesus.
Jesus took two loaves and five fishes, blessed them, thanked His father in heaven, and had the disciples distribute the baskets to the crowd. After all were fed, the disciples collected the leftovers. Not only was everyone satisfied, they were full. Stuffed! Even more, there were doggie bags to bring home! Extra! More than was needed!
What is it that you are hungry for today? Let me remind you, the same God that multiplied the loaves and fish that day, has not changed. He has all ability to change situations and longs to intervene in our lives. But what is the key?
Oftentimes, it is a matter of our perspective. We frequently run to God with our problems, trials and heartaches, as we should! But when was the last time you went to the Lord with all the things that are going right in your world? You see, it is not an accident that you got that house, or that job. It’s not happenstance that your family is blessed or that good things are happening in your life. Do you have a car? Food on your table? Breath in your lungs? When was the last time you praised Him for that which He has already done for you? The ultimate reason He created us was to reflect glory back to Him, and when we thank Him from a true place in our hearts, He is lifted up. The more you live a life of gratitude unto Him, the more you will see His hand stretched out in the area of your needs.
May you be encouraged by the words of Ephesians 3:20 today:
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
Whatever the need you are facing . . . remember, He is more than able, more than enough and more than capable to not only meet it but to exceed it. Approach Him with gratitude and humility, and get your doggie bags ready!
