Her story is unlike anything you’ve heard before…

When Camille thought things couldn’t get worse, she found The Dream Center,

There are some wounds only God can heal. Here is Camille’s story of both devastating tragedy and miraculous healing.

Camille grew up in a loving Christian home. When she was 15-years old she was assaulted, resulting in a pregnancy. She made the heartbreaking choice to abort the baby.

At the age of 18, she joined the Navy, where she served for 8 years. During that time, she met a man and fell in love. They planned to get married, have children, and live happily ever after.

Things didn’t turn out as planned. After the relationship ended and the man left, Camille found out she was pregnant. Like before, she headed to the abortion clinic. On the way she prayed. She knew this was going to happen unless God intervened and changed her heart.

God came through. The moment she heard her baby’s heartbeat, she walked out of the abortion clinic. She dedicated her life and her baby’s life to God. She gave birth to a beautiful, healthy girl. Camille named her Kennedie.

Even though Kennedie’s father initially wanted nothing to do with his daughter, he eventually asked to come and visit her. Camille insisted on always being there when he visited. One day Kennedie’s father asked Camille if she would allow him to keep Kennedie for an overnight stay.

She agreed and dropped the baby off with her father at 7:38 p.m. At 2:18 a.m., the phone rang. It was the hospital asking her to come immediately. When she arrived she learned the unimaginable had happened: Kennedie was dead, murdered by her father’s girlfriend.

Camille’s world fell apart. The pain was unbearable. She blamed God. She blamed herself. She began drinking heavily and turned to cocaine. She was admitted to the psych ward of a hospital on two separate occasions, and even attempted suicide.

Still the agony engulfed her. She knew she had hit rock bottom but had no idea how to escape the pain.

When it seemed things couldn’t get worse, she heard about The Dream Center. She was reluctant to seek help there but had no other options.

At The Dream Center, Camille realized that although she had turned her back on God, He hadn’t turned His back on her. She found that even when she felt the most alone, God had never left her side. She even learned to forgive the woman who murdered her daughter. Her shame and anger were finally gone.

There are thousands of veterans like Camille who suffer from deep wounds. Each veteran’s story is different: some deal with PTSD; some fight addiction; some have been through unspeakable physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.

That’s why we are partnering with The Dream Center to bring hope and healing to veterans. We are building The Freedom House Women’s Veterans’ Home at The Dream Center to provide a refuge for female veterans. Work is already underway and we plan to have a ribbon-cutting on Memorial Day of this year.

The amazing thing is that Camille is going be the director of  this outreach! She has moved from a place of absolute darkness to a place of compassion and peace. And now she will be moving into a place of ministry, pouring into the lives of other veterans.

Through your support, wounds are being healed and lives are being transformed. Your compassion and generosity are genuinely appreciated. Blessings to you and your family!
