Thermometers and thermostats

He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil.
-Proverbs 11:27

I have heard it said that Christians are not to be spiritual thermometers but spiritual thermostats.

In other words, you are not merely supposed to detect the spiritual climate as a thermometer detects the existing temperature in a room; you are to change it, imposing the authority of the kingdom of God wherever you go.

How do you change the climate? Start by changing the atmosphere. Keep a spirit of prayer and praise in your life. This creates the right atmosphere around you for the presence of the Holy Spirit. Then, stand and fight for those you love.

Go to the throne of God on your knees . . . it’s time to drive the snake out of your life!

THINK ABOUT IT–
Are you a thermometer or a thermostat? How can you start changing the climate of your life?

PRAYER FOR TODAY—
Heavenly Father,
I’m ready to start impacting those around me. Give me the strength and courage to start changing the atmosphere at work and in my home through Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
