The Power Of A Proper Perspective (Part 2)

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: Blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” Psalm 34:8

In order for the Israelites to move into the promised land, they first needed to get a vision of where they were going. Next, God wanted them to get a taste of the grapes. He wanted to give them a foretaste of the great things He was going to do. Have you ever gotten samples of food at the mall? Restaurants want to draw you in with a taste of what you could have. God wanted to give the people a taste of the grapes. He wanted them to sample something greater than they had been experiencing. He wanted to move them away from the leeks and garlic of Egypt.

God also wants you to move into a greater life than you could ever imagine. It all depends on your mentality. There are two mentalities that people have. You’re either a positive “grape taster” or a negative “giant talker.” Even though the 12 spies all saw the same things, they came back with different perspectives. Joshua and Caleb came back optimistic and excited about what was to come, but the other ten spies came back and complained. They didn’t see the grapes. They only saw the giants. They saw themselves as victims, but Joshua and Caleb saw themselves as victors.

Your vocabulary tells you if you are a grape taster or a giant talker. Are you saying words like, “I can’t. It’s not possible. Nothing good ever happens to me. Woe is me.” How do you talk about your future? Negative giant talking is contagious. What mindsets are you passing down to your children? Problems are inevitable, and you will have to deal with obstacles to see success. But God has grapes of blessings for you if you’re willing to face the giants. Don’t let a defeatist mindset keep you from the promise land of God’s dream for your life! You are only one decision away from a better life.
