Just breathe …

And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
-John 20:22

The Bible often refers to Satan as a serpent or snake. But snakes differ in the way they hunt and destroy their prey. I believe the Lord showed me that the devil operates a lot like a python in the way he tries to infiltrate people’s lives. He slowly coils his way around us and we hardly notice — until suddenly we find we cannot breathe.

The python is after breath. Breath, air, and wind are symbols of the Holy Spirit in Scripture. Satan desires to squeeze the breath of the Holy Spirit and His anointing from our lives. That makes the enemy very dangerous because God’s Word tells us it’s not by might or by power, but by His Spirit (Zech. 4:6).

Be aware of the subtle attacks of the serpent. Are you losing your passion for the Lord, for the Word, for prayer, and for praise? Don’t brush it off as a spiritual slump. Understand this is the python attack of the enemy.

THINK ABOUT IT–
Take inventory of your spiritual walk. How often do you pray? How often do you read God’s Word? How is your personal worship?

PRAYER FOR TODAY—
Heavenly Father,
Fill me anew with Your Holy Spirit today. I pray for a renewed zeal and a fresh passion in my life to spend time in Your Word, in prayer, and in worship. More than anything, I want to inhale Your very breath! I want to breathe again! Amen.
