Huh? Speak up!

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
-Deuteronomy 6:4-7

I’ll let you in on a secret – your voice is one of your greatest weapons against the enemy. Your voice releases prayer. It releases praise. With your voice you proclaim the plans and purposes of God.

But I’m concerned that our spiritual voices are not coming through loud and clear for the next generation of believers.

It is not enough to speak the language of God’s love and power once a week in church. It has to be spoken fluently and loudly in the home if you expect your children to learn and speak it. The next generation will never speak what they don’t hear.

For the sake of your children, are you speaking up about what is important?

Revelation 12:11 tells us, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Do not allow the python to choke the language of God out of your home. If you allow him to wrap his way around your life, he will silence your voice.

THINK ABOUT IT—
Consider the conversations you’ve had in your home just today. Was Christ welcome?

PRAYER FOR TODAY—
Heavenly Father,
Please forgive me for not using my mouth as you intended — to praise, edify, and worship You. Give me the courage to speak up about my faith in my home, on my job, or wherever I go. Amen.
