Day 2 | Fasting

January 09, 2017

Excerpted from Jentezen Franklin's 21-Day Fasting Bible Study

Returning today to the theme of focus because each day, your focus—what you choose to think about and feel—will become more and more important. Your hunger for food will start to take center stage as your physical flesh begins to send all those reminders to your brain telling you to eat, and eat NOW! But as scripture tells us, your thoughts and your focus are a choice, not a foregone conclusion.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. II Corinthians 10:5

Take a moment to read Matthew 6:1-24. There is so much in this chapter that relates to the fast you are undertaking, so do not rush through this reading. Take time to take notes as you go, and always put a month and year next to any notes you take or verses that minister to you.

Think About It

  1. What specific verses from Matthew 6:1-24 really stood out or spoke to you today?
  2. There are many reasons to fast. Which of the following reasons most accurately apply to you?
    • Need for open doors
    • Need for miraculous provision
    • Need for the touch of God in my life
    • Fulfillment of my God-given dreams
    • Need for a fresh encounter with God
    • Need of a deeper relationship with the Lord
    • Need of sensitivity to the things of God
    • Bondages that need to be broken
    • Salvation of a friend or loved one
    • Desire to know God’s will for my life
    • Need of healing in my physical body
  3. Take a moment and reflect on each of the items above that apply to you. What specifically would you like to see change?

My son Michael has been diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma stage 2 Cancer. He's going to have to have Chemo they say for six month. We are believing God to do a miracle as soon as possible and long life for him. And he will meet his wife. And God over the door for our ministry.

Thank you Jesus for giving me the opportunity to reconnect with you in a special way. My life has been shaped by so many different experience that I can't overlook them. I always meant well, but now I know how much I was limited in knowledge and that I was not where I should have been. However, I am very guarded by every calling and direction that I have been directed to for they have led me into the palm of his hand. I am very appreciative of these gifts and look forward to serving him dearly.

To The Lord, who knows me. I pray that His perfect will, to be manisfest in me. That He favoured me, with His Peace and that I may learn to be still, knowing that He is God, in all and all. Amen!

I always fast with free chapel , but this year I really need the encouragement to do this. I need to be on this fast.

I thank God for calling back into place of fasting and prayer where my focus is on Him first.

I pray that God will strengthen everyone on this fast so that His will and purpose for our lives will be fulfilled. I also pray that our reasons for fasting this year are honored by God. Not our will, but God's will be done in our lives. Amen.

Day one already blessed beyond belief! It is not about a diet but about a diety, connecting to the one true God who says move near to me and I will move near to you!
