Borderline Christians

So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
-Revelation 3:16

The Gadarenes were descendants of the tribe of Gad. Rather than receive the inheritance God had given them in the Promised Land, they chose to live on the east side of the Jordan River.

They lived on the border because they believed the land there was good for livestock and they wanted to protect their children from the Canaanites.

Today, “borderline Christians” do the same thing. They decide to trust what they can see with their own eyes rather than trusting God to lead them into unknown territory. The people of Gad remained on the border as God’s presence moved farther and farther away.

When you refuse to grow in your faith, the presence of God will slip further and further away … and that leaves you wide open to Satan’s attack.

THINK ABOUT IT–
Have you set up camp on the borderline? What is holding you back from following God into the Promised Land? Ask God what He would have you do today or where He would have you go today.

PRAYER FOR TODAY—
Heavenly Father,
On this day, I step out of my comfort zone. I will follow You into the unknown because I trust You and know that You have good things planned for me. Amen.
