Blessings and Obedience (4)

There are times when more than a basket is called for. God used Joseph to touch nations (Genesis 41-42). A great famine consumed the land, but God had given Joseph the wisdom and foresight to receive a barn level of blessings to feed the world. Joseph had barns full of stored grain to share with those in need outside of his own country. God raised Joseph up and filled his barns with prosperity to bless the nations.

When we obey God, we move into a new dimension of blessing! He is El Shaddi, the God who is more than enough. He is more than enough for your need, whatever that need is. He has a financial plan to release His power and His favor in your life. The blessing is the power to excel and to prosper … the blessing is the favor of God on your life. And it all starts with your obedience.

It is so encouraging and reassuring to read the blessings listed in Deuteronomy 28. It says in the second verse, “All these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” And then it begins to list those blessings:

God’s blessing inside the city,
God’s blessing in the country;
God’s blessing on your children,
the crops of your land,
the young of your livestock,
the calves of your herds,
the lambs of your flocks.
God’s blessing on your basket and bread bowl;
God’s blessing in your coming in,
God’s blessing in your going out.
(V 3-6 The Message)

Verse 8 says, “God will order a blessing on your barns and workplaces; he’ll bless you in the land that God, your God, is giving you” (The Message).

God didn’t put a clause on it and say the blessing won’t work in a bad economy. God’s economy is not man’s economy. God’s blessings on your life is like a magnetic force that will multiply more blessings as you respond to His voice and His leading. No matter what your situation today, you can reach a new level of financial blessing and provision for your life.
