Wise Blood

Our body is an intricately designed fighting system. In the simplest terms, our immune system works because each time we defeat a sickness or disease, our blood cells remember how to fight it the next time it shows up. Better yet, they remember they’ve already won the battle and stop that enemy in its tracks … see where this is going?

Our blood cells remember. Doctors call these cells, wise blood cells. There’s power in the blood that’s in your body. How much more powerful is the blood of Jesus?

“Wise blood,” because the blood remembers it’s already fought and conquered the enemy. It is this Blood that separates Christianity from the rest of the religions of the world. The blood of Jesus Christ makes you more than a conqueror! His blood went to battle for you and me on the Cross. On the third day, when the stone was rolled away and the empty tomb revealed, Christ defeated death itself!

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57

There are doctors and scientists who’ve spent their lifetime trying to find a cure for cancer. Day after day they go into the laboratory, put those cells on a little glass tray, pull out their microscope and study this disease trying to come up with an antibody. When they discover something that can potentially stop the spread of those dangerous cells, then comes the next challenge. Somehow they’ve got to get this antibody to connect with the disease. And they go back into their lab, jackets on, microscopes out, trying to determine “How in the world can I do this?”

Can you imagine some days they get so eager they wish they could just take the lab coat off, shrink themselves down, get on that slide themselves, and jump in there to fight that disease? That is exactly what Jesus did!

One day, the captain of our salvation looked out over His creation; the Alpha and the Omega; the Scientist of all scientists; the Beginning and the End. He looked down and saw the earth and all its inhabitants, His own creation, being defeated and destroyed by Satan and death. And what the scientist could not do, my Savior did.

He took off His robe of deity, and came down in a human body to win the battle for us … through His blood … wise blood. Blood that remembers defeating death! And not just death, His blood remembers defeating everything up until death. It remembers defeating temptation in the wilderness. His blood remembers defeating blindness, and sickness and disease. His blood remembers defying the odds and doing the impossible. His Blood remembers defeating every conceivable sin for you and me when He took the cup in Gethsemane (see Matthew 26:39).

The battles have all been won. He’s fought for us, if we will just receive His victory. All we have to do is call on the Blood of Jesus to fight on our behalf by inviting Him into our hearts and into our lives and trusting in the power of His wise blood … His resurrection blood! Friend, don’t try to fight your own battles—His blood remembers how to conquer that temptation, that depression, the anger, the addiction, the sickness … Through Christ, we are overcomers!

Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
