We Must Have Revival For Survival

Have you ever felt things couldn’t get any worse…and then they did? Let me encourage you today.

Often times we reserve “revival” for an event that takes place only within the walls of our churches, and only on designated weekends. When the environment is right, the band is in tune, the lights are bright enough (but not too bright!) and there is standing room only, well…then we may see revival! But that is not the case at all. Though all good things, they are not necessary for God to revive.

Maybe you need to be reminded today. Revival is not a service, but a person! It is not for certain times of the year, but for everyday survival.

A beautiful example of this is found in the book of 2 Kings.

A Woman has recently experienced the death of a spouse. Along with an aching heart, she has taken on the financial responsibility of her household. She has sold everything she has, but it is not enough to keep the creditor, the enemy, away. In fear she may loose her children she consults the profit, Elisha.

“Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to [a]Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” 2 Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” 3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few. 4 And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.” 5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing the vessels to her and she poured. 6 When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not one vessel more.” And the oil stopped. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.” (2 Kings 4: 1-7 NASB)
She had the payment all along inside her home. The oil, God’s Holy Spirit, paid her debt and it will pay yours and mine!

Are you weary? Come to the house of God! Are you empty? Perfect. Now God can really use you! Empty handed? You still have the oil of the Holy Spirit, and that is all you need to make the enemy turn on his heels and flee, not just a few weekends a year, but everyday!

Be encouraged today that God has equipped you for this very season. I pray you are revived in mind, body and spirit as you conquer that which He has set out before you.

Praise God for everyday revival!
