Day 19: Someone to Challenge You

In 2 Kings 13:14-19, the prophet Elisha was on his death bed. And, Joash, King of Israel, came to him for one last piece of advice because the Syrians were attacking the country. Elisha told him to take a bow and arrows and put his hand on the bow.

These scriptures may not make a lot of sense to you concerning the theme of fasting, but I want to tie them together over the next couple of days in a way that I feel the Lord would have me share with you.

Do you know that everybody needs a man of God in their life? You need someone who won’t just tell you what you want to hear, but someone who will tell you what you need to hear. Someone who won’t just make you feel good, but someone who will also challenge you.

I was thinking about how Elisha had a double portion of the anointing of Elijah. Before he received that, 2 Kings 2 says that Elisha tore his robe into two pieces and took up the mantle of Elijah. Notice he had to take off before he could put on. And we have to rid ourselves of some things before God will send the double portion anointing.

I believe God’s double portion anointing can come on us for complete victory, when we rid ourselves of sins like offense, unforgiveness and pride. On this fast, let’s get rid of some things so we can receive other things from God.

When you take that stuff off, you humble yourself. And James 4:6 says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Fast for complete victory in your life. Victory is when you completely overcome the enemy. It is the cutting off of Goliath’s head. It is the dancing on the grave of your enemy. It is not co-existing with partial victory. Jesus came “that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).

Jesus came to bring complete victory.

I receive COMPLETE VICTORY over my life and for my family in the name of Jesus! I’m somewhat sad that the fast is almost over! I feel such a connection with my sisters and brothers who I’m never personally met, and have gained so much strength from your comments. The sacrifices during this fast has been nothing like the previous ones. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. I have complete victory nonetheless. The Egyptians whom I see today, I shall not see them again no more forever, because of THIS fast. God bless you Pastor Franklin, Free Chapel, and all of youl

Praise God, He has saved my dad from three terrible incidents in which he would have had very serious injuries or even worse, all happening between last friday and this morning. While my dad was narrating the stories to me, i could not help thinking they are miracles somehow connected to this fast in addition to God just protecting my dad as his son. I believe there is more indeed and everyone in this fast shall see complete victory in their lives and that of their families and loved ones.

    Good Afternoon Pastor J,

I am a 30 year old young lady, who is desperately chasing the lord This is my very first 21 day fast which I know the lord has led me to do, I am not fasting with you guys but the lord led me to stumble across your page and you have helped me with your lessons, teaching, your words and most importantly your encouragement through out my time of fasting. I have prayed for everyone who is doing the fast with you and there testimonies have also helped me through as well so I want to also thank everyone around all nations who have been sharing their testimonies as well. But I feel led by the holy spirit to extend my Daniel fast for 40 days and need more insight on this and why am I being led to extend my fast for 40 days.

    • Patricia Brown says:

YOU SAID IT, the Holy Spirit is leading you to extend your fast. Maybe there is something He wants you to do and you need to remain sensitive to His spirit that He may lead and guide you into all truth. The greater the sacrifice, the greater the blessing! I think He may be leading me to continue as well. I don’t know what the Lord is doing, but I know I’m enjoying experiencing His glorious presence, and I don’t want to be disturbed by life’s distractions. And the Word of the Lord to you my sister is found in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show you great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” May God continue to richly bless you.

Thank you Father God for today’s word from your Vessel JF and Thank you Lord for favors and forgiveness in the areas that we rid ourselves and need you to pour your Divine Grace and double portion of your Anointing into our heart so that we feel your presence.Yes all mountains are casted down in Jesus Name, we have victory in all aspects and areas of our lives.Glory to God for the connections like others said, thank you Lord for this fasting and prayers we have overcome all obstacles and evil, moved all mountains and we declared victory, favors of God upon us,blessings over our life, our future and our families in Jesus Name.

  17. Christine says:

Yes, worship is the theme of my fast and I asked God for complete victory. I know that God will give me complete victory over everything that the devil will try. He will give me complete victory over all aspects of my life. I am confessing this with my mouth, mind, soul and spirit. Whatever we declare on earth is also declared in heaven. I have learnt to bless myself and declare Gods blessing over everything in my life. There is power in the words that come out of our mouths and I have purposed to have blessings come out instead. May God continue to help me in the beautiful journey. Thank you Lord for you unending GRACE.

  18. celeste says:

Pastor I was lead to go on this fast several times with you and each time major ATTACKS happened to me and this one I really believe my chid would not have been here.He had an accident with his mustang we think the gas stuck on his car he hit a tree and totally lost his car and no scratch or anything was on him,Praise God for the BLESSING. Being obedient is the key I think we should always have that ear to hear God’s voice, and not the voice of our stomach all the time this is truly a Blessing to know that God has our back as well as our children I am sooooo THANKFUL to be on The Lord’s side knowing that He has our back we have the VICTORY regardles of the attacks of the enemy. Blessings to All.

  19. S says:
