Bumps

“These trials will show that your faith is genuine.” 1Pe 1:7 NLT

It is impossible to tell by looking at a person how much faith they have. Compare your faith to a bucket of water; you only discover how much is inside when somebody bumps it. Likewise, when life bumps you, you spill out what you are full of. Maybe you took a financial hit in the last few years: bump! What spilled out, fear or faith? Maybe you, or a loved one, received bad news from the doctor and you’re going for tests: bump! What splashed over the side? Dreading the worst or trusting God for the best? People can’t tell by looking at you how much faith you have, but they can tell by listening to you. In life, bumps are going to happen. You will be tested. And the purpose of the test is not just to reveal your faith, but to refine it. God doesn’t test your faith in order to know how much you have, He already knows. No, He tests your faith so that you can know—and start strengthening it. Stop and consider the hardest thing that’s going on in your life right now, then ask yourself, “Is this situation decreasing my faith or increasing it?” The Bible says: “These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

I am from Plainfield, Indiana and this is my 3rd fast a have partnered in with your church. My son was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst on his brain that is the size of my fist on day 7 of the fast. This 11 yr old brilliant, athletic, compassionate boy walked into this hospital and now can not walk on his own. The cyst was removed 2 days ago and he still can’t walk on his own and is still in much pain. The Lord has given me the grace to persevere in the fast and to stand firm in the faith and to not collapse under the things seen with the visible eye, but to hang onto the promises of the Lord. I entered the fast open minded to what the Lord had for me, but boy did I get thrown a curve ball. I trust the Lord, for he knows what I need. He will remain faithful to my son, and remain faithful to me. I have been humbled and broken, smashed. I trust the Lord to put the broken pieces where he sees fit. God is sooooo good and I claim and have hope that my son will walk again soon in Jesus Name!!!! Provebs 17.3: The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.

      Hi Julie,
I know this is a hard time and at times devastation may creep in, but do not feel discouraged God is still in control. I would know how it feels if it were your mother or a brother but not your child. So I cannot say I know what you are going through, I can only imagine but never give up. You are such a strong person and you are on the right track – Your faith and belief will take you, your son and family through all this and more. Don’t lose hope! You are not alone prayers are going up for you. I do pray and will continue to, for complete healing for your son. Continue to believe, and continue to be strong. God blessing is craved for you both!

  10. Rosalyn says:

Julie, you son WILL walk…so keep the faith! According to James 5:14 anoint and lay hands on him. SPEAK Exodus 13:26 and Isaiah 53:5 over him. Command his legs to walk confessing Romans 8:11 to them. Do this each day. Stand still and see what the Lord will do. To encourage you, read Luke, Chapter 8…note verse 50…Jesus did it for Jarius, He will do it for your son. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever. Weeping may endure for a night, BUT joy comes in the morning. Only believe. I am in agreement with you and the Word. Be blessed.

  11. Reshan says:

The storms of life will come to overtake you but Know that HE is the Storm Walker. Keep believing and trusting for more because, this is only a test which God will use to increase your faith and show of His goodness. Remember what it says in Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Believe and Receive healing for your son in Jesus name.

  14. A. Garcia says:

Julie, I just read your post, and I just prayed for God’s grace to carry your son , you, and all your family through today. I am recovering from a year of surgery and chemo that began last February, and learned that you take one day at a time with He who has promised to never leave or forsake us. I thank the Lord for his word! I’ve cherished the time that I’ve had to meditate, read and have been speaking the word aloud. That is powerful!! II Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. In Jesus name we pray and believe that He will carry you through the days that get overwhelming!
