Hello Dr. Rich. I just want to say how thankful I am that Pastor Franklin has this fast. In the past 6 months or so I have made him MY pastor. I just graduated from Nyack College in NY with a youth ministry major at 53 yrs of age. I wish I lived in Georgia.

I have shared my fasting experience with my church body, Mission Hills in RSM and we are kicking off a 14 day corporate fast....very exciting. I'm doing the 21 day with Free Chapel not to miss out! I'm doing 1 week water, 1 week juice, 1 week Daniel.

I feel that I didn't get close enough during my fasting experience as I would like. As a nurse, my work hours are long and it feels like there's not enough time to spend praying. I pray this time will be different and I will draw closer and more intimate with my Heavenly Father.

I know what you are talking about. This year, however, I have decided that I want to give God my all, just because He is so amazing. God has done so much for me.
Well, so far so good!! I have purpose and will crucify my flesh! Honor God!

Though my spirit was excited at the start, when I began I felt a bit like Pastor Rich just described. I felt like I was struggling to genuinely worship and praise God-not very spiritual. However, I'm committed to this and I'll overcome!

The Dr.'s comment is just what I am feeling right now. I am on day three do not know what to expect or what to do besides reading my Bible and hanging in there. I do believe God is truly seeing where my heart is as my flesh is screaming STOP.

Sounds like me last year. I felt compelled to do the Daniel, but instead I did a 3 day fast. I knew I needed to start the year with a fast so I figured I could get it over quicker that way. My heart was right. My flesh was not! I was still blessed!

I seek God's direction in my life and that of my family. I seek employment so that I do not have to leave my home and can support my disabled daughter and be a supporter to my husband. I pray that our college-age daughter be lifted from her depression.

I am so happy that I'm doing this fast. God has seen me through the first 2 days and I believe that He will see me all the way through. When I'm feeling weak, I pray in silence and read the Bible or whatever scripture God places in my heart.

I started the fast last year but only went for 10 days because I got sick. This year I'm committed to finish the 21 days even though I'm now sick, but I believe God is going to heal my body and my spirit as I seek to get closer to Him. Bless your family.

Yes, it sounds just like me! I always wanted to do the first two or three day full fast, but by 3pm king stomach would scream at me and so I would always fall for the half day fast. But thanks be to God that I'm on my way, full fast in progress.

Glory to God who gives us power over the flesh! The devil is a liar! Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. I am determined more than ever to see these 21 days through and looking forward to the many victories and rewards!

I only heard about this Fasting Movement this year. I started and I am two days behind. I will finish it. I am doing it because God has been so good to me. I am so happy that I am part of this. Through God who strengthens me, I will survive and overcome.I am blessed

Thank you for that! I needed that, I always feel like when I am fasting that I don't get "spiritual" enough and that it will all be in vain! God blessed you anyway and He will do the same for me! Perfection is not in our flesh. He knows our heart!

I am doing the fast and am excited. Have had some tea with honey a few times to help the low points. I know if I get through the first few days it will be a bit easier.

Thanks for sharing because the first day of the fast was the hardest of all my three years. I had to cry to God for help. I am going on now in His strength feeling wonderfully strong this third day, though I have to crucify the flesh daily.

This is my first time to start the 21 day fast. I started Jan 1st. I am trying to do the Daniel fast. It is my desire to put God first every day and become a greater intercessor for His Kingdom.

Hello, I bless the Lord for His favor in our lives. I have been led to fast lately but was not able to do it because I was too distracted. I am now going to be able to do it because I want to be obedient to God. Be blessed.

Praise God! I really needed to read the message. Each time I fast I tend to have an issue with food. My eating habits are one of the reasons why I am fasting. I have a void inside of me and I need the holy spirit. Please keep me in prayer.

My wife and I have joined the fast and we have started on the 1st of January.We believe in the words of Eph 3:20 - "Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."

This is my first time of fasting. I read Pastor Franklin's book last year and did a three day fast but did not think that I would be able to do the 21 day fast which I thought was a tall order for me. But I look to God and God alone for strength.

I just watched Pastor Jentezen's program a few minutes ago and I have found what I have been looking for "The way to understand the vision GOD has given me" is the 21 day fast. I'm 3 days late but I'm starting in the morning. Thank you Pastor Jentezen.

Pastor Rich, everything you mentioned is exactly how I have been feeling. I know our God is awesome and have seen what fasting has done in other peoples lives. What God does for one person, He will do for another through their obedience! This is also my first fast. I have to admit yesterday was pretty hard for me; it was my daughter's birthday and imagine having to be the one to put up the cake! I remembered step #2 fast as a spiritual commitment, and step #3 reflect inner desire by outer discipline. I am on day three and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me and my family. The encouraging words are good for me. This is my 3rd year for the 21 day fast and God has worked mightily in my life. 2008 was a hard year for my family. We are fighting some spiritual battles for our children. Pray that God will deliver our son Jeff.

I completely agree! Every now and then I pray "Lord please give me the strength, as well as all those participating in the fast. Holy Spirit rise up within me." The Lord is giving me the strength to complete the fast. I surely can't do it by myself.

This will be my first time to fast united with the body of Christ. I believe that the Lord called me to this particular fast and I can feel His presence here at home comforting my family and myself. Wow, this is the first time I heard someone say what I always felt about fasting. Thank you Dr. Rich. Today is the 3rd day and I have been through such a spiritual battle. I came back to work for the first time since New Year's and everyone could tell.

Everyone could tell something was wrong. I feel like God is purging me and in the process my flesh is fighting my spirit and it hurts. I want to just go back to my old ways so the pain will go away, but at the same time I know my mind is being renewed.

I have watched you for the past 3 years but I never participated. At the end of every year I felt empty. No breakthrough. I prayed and cried and tithed but no breakthrough. I will be obedient now and fast with you. I know I will get my breakthrough!

I love reading everyone's comments. I get energized, pumped-up spiritually! It encourages me tremendously! We are all the same no matter where we live, the color of our skin, our struggle is the same. We all desire to draw closer to HIM!

It's day 3. I have fasted in the past but never more day 1-2 days. I continue to fast and pray for the things I have dedicated this fast to and I will not let the Devil brake my spirit. GOD IS THE LIGHT. In Him will I trust. God bless all.

This is acutally my second time fasting. I got great results the first time I did it which was last year, things that I was not even praying for were giving to me such as a great job and so much more.... Praise God, I get closer to God each time.

You've put what I've been feeling so simple that I can actually visualize the finish line. As opposed to this morning when I was looking at my calendar and realized that 21 days is a pretty long time. But I'm seeking God and need to connect to Him.

This is my 3rd year fasting. The last part of 2008 was very hard. I was so depressed. I want back all the devil has stolen from me (my list is very long). This is my 3rd day of fasting. Today, I'm feeling and looking good.

On my 3rd day of a full fast. I decided to continue with the Daniel fast but I'm not at peace about it. There is a war in my flesh over how long to do the full fast. I'm not sure what to do but I'll continue on a full fast for a week. Can anyone relate to this? Any advice?

Oh my GOD!!! Thank You for being who you are. This is my 3rd year attempting the fast and I will do it this time. I'm following the Dainel fast 'til God directs me to something different. It is my heart's desire to incorporate a full 3 day fast.

This is the first fast I have been waiting for! I have been on 21 day fasts previously, but this time I am prepared by proper teaching and with great expectation. In the first three days God has already revealed great things!

Amen!!! Praise be to God for His healing. I had an abcess in my tooth and my face was really swollen. I prayed that God would take the swelling down and He did!!!! Amen. Now, I am trusting Him that next week when I to the doctor, there would be no abcess!

Thanks for sharing Pastor. I agree with Kamaria - my flesh is getting weak. I want to turn back and it hurts all over. After reading some comments and yours, I am hopeful that I can do it!! All for the glory of God.

I read Jentezen Franklin's book "Fasting." It gave me the desire to want to join the 21 day fast with his church. I am also seeking God's will for my family and my life. I am very excited and started the Daniel fast. Thank you for your honesty.

I have given-up sodas all together and did one full day of fasting with just liquids. I am 59 years old and it is harder than I thought. I am trying to do as God directs me daily. Today I had no meat. I know He will bless me as He sees my heart.

I am joining the fast from Houston, TX. This is my first year doing the fast. I have already seen God's hand move. Yesterday (Day 2 of the fast), I was given a salary increase at work!!! God is so awesome.

Day 3. I am feeling like this has been the craziest day. I have to focus so much more on God and less on the things which are or are not going on around me. I am going to get out of God's way and let God be God in my life. Stay strong in the Lord!

This is my second year of fasting. Last year, I was doing only a partial fast by excluding a few things that I felt strongly impressed to take out of my diet. I was blessed. This year I am doing the Daniel fast and being blessed already.

I missed the start date. I will started in the morning. I Invited a friend... 2007 was the first fast I went on with Free Chapel. After the fast. I felt empowered as the year went on I in countered much lost. I made the fast in 2008 and now 2009 I'm ok!

Hearing that you struggle with fasting, as a pastor, encourages me and tells me that I'm not alone in my struggle. This is my third y.ear with this fast, I stick it out physically by restraining myself food, I struggle with devoting myself spiritually.

Remember to praise during our fast! I read Ps 147, 148, 149 and 150 and ALL talk about Praising God, for his faithfulness, with noise, with joy and being thankful in all His goodness! Fasting seems daunting and who knows how I will be tomorrow.

We experienced major crises yesterday. Our son had an accident and had to go to the ER. He might need surgery. A major business deal fell through and we had a serious relationship crisis. We are keeping on. Please pray for us.

Hi. Thank you for your comments and confessions today. It made me feel a lot better. Today was hard for me. We had a going away party for one of my co-workers and the food smelled so great but I prayed to the Lord and fought the temptation.

I was just listening to Pastor Franklin's podcast on "Let the Fire Fall"....WOW! God has put me on two 40-day fasts in the past two years and several Daniel 21-day fasts. During these times, I have learned that God will ALWAYS exceed our expectations.

My first time to last this long in all my Christian life and it's been almost 3 decades! Heard/read about fasting but was not motivated enough 'til Jentezen wrote and taught about it. Could I have seen more answered prayers like my husband's healing all along!?!?

Started out Sat., doing only the water fast. Got done late today with it. Was planning on doing the 21 day Daniel fast next but God's spirit wants me to do the 3 day water fast again! Praise God! I'll do both! Some things you wrote were so what I have felt!!!!!

I like fasting. 3rd day full fast and I am not hungry. Coconut water from Brazil (Whole Food Stores) with NO sugar added is my best kept secret. I remember what Pastor Franklin said at the OC campus, "When you feel hungry, it is a reminder to pray!"

OH yes His promises have come to pass. Hallelujah!!
This is my second year...my third day today. I can testify of the miracles that the Lord our God can bring to our lives through fasting.
This year I pray that the Lord sets my path straight.

I believe God is starting something in people's lives especially when i read all those comments coming from Africa. I am excited. God is starting something in Africa. Africa is no more a dark continent. Life has sprung in Africa. Hallelujah!

I believe you helped thousands out there like me. One of my requests was answered. I had a dream last night and it was assurrance that all will be well. God has really shocked me, an answer so soon!

I am so thankful to God for Dr. Rich's honest remarks. This is day three for me and my second time on the Free Chapel corporate fast. I am very encouraged by all I have read. God will see us through inspite of all that stands against us.

Praise God for this blog. I am on day 3 of the Daniel fast. This is the first time I have fasted. I want to be closer to God and be in His perfect will. Please pray for me I am having caffiene withdrawals.

Well, I think I may have made it through the most uncomfortable time of the fast. I know that I am not doing this in my own strength. I pray the Lord's strength upon every person that's simply willing to obey the Lord!You will make it!

LOL! Thanks Dr. Rich. Yesterday I made a list of food I was fantasizing about, in hopes that it would get out of my brain once I put it on paper and then I could focus on the Word and prayer with a more devoted mind. It actually worked. I'm with you!

Hello Dr. Rich, I am the lady from Tehachapi. This is my 3rd year to fast. Last year during the fast I lost my sister. Her children needed me so much to let her go and not keep her on life support. It was truly God that enabled me to stay focused.

Thanks Dr. Rich. I read this last night and was really struggling but today I have had the most wonderful day with the Lord. It's been as if He filled me up so much spiritually that I haven't even had cravings. It's been a great, prayer-filled day.

Dr. Rich, just read this, this is day 5 for me. Great confessions!!!! Oh how it boosted my spirit to know I'm not the only one not digging it. LOL But I need God's blessings and healing. My faith in Him will carry me through, you encouraged me so..

Praise God!! This is exciting!! The people of God from all nations coming together in victory!! GLORY!!! This is what loving God is about - worshipping Him, glorifying Him and forever praising Him!!! We can do all things through Christ!! Thank you Lord!!!

What a day...foggy mind...but strength to continue in this journey to be close to God! It's like dragging oneself to the top of a mountain to search for the right path home!

I started the fast late. I wanted to make sure that I was focused on why, how long and the exact fast that I needed to lay before the Lord. This is day three and it seemed kind of hard, but I know the the Lord will strengthen me.

I fellowship with Pastor Innocent Sibanda who started 21 day fast 4th Jan, we joined with my girls 14 & 20. I visited Cums Book looking for a book, but the Holy Spirit led me to Fasting by Pastor Jentezen, it changed my life & the road is easy with God.

I started the 21 day fast on 1/8/10. Am on the 3rd day. Is my first time fasting this long specially on a full fast. Praise God. Am still holding strong and is amazing how the Holy Spirit guides me. Thank you Jesus
