Be a Dreamer

Your ability to dream comes from the very nature of God. I love that. Think about how much truth is in that simple statement. God, who created the very heavens and earth, did it from nothing. He took non-existence and made it exist. Hebrews 11:3 says, “ . . . the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” (NKJV).

When did, “He’s just a dreamer” become an insult? Even today, the technology that surrounds us came from individuals who had dreams of things no one had ever seen nor could imagine.

Dreams change the future. Dreams push us forward. Dreams advance the Kingdom of God! The enemy will do whatever it takes to stop those dreams.

Joseph was a dreamer. When his brothers came against his dream, he dreamed bigger. When his world turned against him—his brothers stripped him of his coat representing the favor on his life, and threw him into an empty pit where all hope seemed dried up—he held on.

What will you do when it seems like God’s favor has lifted from your life? When the door gets slammed on your dream and you feel all dried-up?

Joseph told his brothers, “ . . . you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day” (Genesis 50:20). There were 22 years between the pit and this day!

You can’t give up on your dreams because of someone else’s opinion. You can’t stop working for the harvest God has promised you because other people have doubt and unbelief. You can’t throw in the towel because the enemy throws in a few obstacles. The enemy would leave you alone if he thought there was no substance to your dream.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God” (Romans 8:28).

God has a day for your dream to come about. He wrote that day before you faced one hardship, one roadblock. And when that day comes, you’ll be better prepared for it because of what you’ve been through. They may have meant to stop you, to discourage you, to keep you from succeeding. But God meant it for good!

If you’ve given up on a dream, dig deep. Reach back to the promise God spoke to your heart. Opportunity is God’s gift to you. What you do with that opportunity is your gift back to God.

Be persistent. Defy the odds. Be a dreamer!
